Video article marketing tip: How to use YouTube keyword tags to generate traffic to your videos

Friday, November 27th, 2009

One of the many questions that we receive at support is how to make my video get listed in top search results amidst hundreds or possibly thousands of similar videos on YouTube. Getting top rankings on YouTube certainly involves a lot of work, but what we’ll cover here are some smart ways to ensure that your video gets maximum visiblity in YouTube and thereby increasing the chances of improving the your website traffic.

Firstly, let me re-inforce the fact that YouTube likes fresh content, so make sure the first time you post the videos, its absolutely perfect – in terms of the right keyword combination, that the Video Title is keyword-optimized, and the Video Description has your website URL and all the right keywords properly woven with the keywords that you’re targetting. Let’s look at each of them in more detail.

Leverage the YouTube Tags

YouTube (and all the other video sites currently supported by ArticleVideoRobot) provide you the Tags field that could provide great results if effectively used. So let’s say one creates a video about making money with Twitter, we’ve seen most of our customers use only four or five keywords at the maximum. For example, more often than not, it would be “How to make Money with Twitter”, “Twitter Money Making tips”, “Make Money Online with Twitter”, “Online Money Making Tips”, etc. However, when you submit tags that has spaces, most of the video sites (and that includes YouTube too) split the tags into individual keywords. So in the case of a tag such as “Make Money with Twitter”, the video sites would split it into three individual keywords namely, “Make”, “Money” and “Twitter”. Well, this is something that you might not want though it might still work. What you might want is your video being associated with more targeted search phrases, so when someone searches YouTube for the phrase “How to make money online with Twitter”, your video gets listed in the top search results. For this, we’d need to use something multi-word keyword tags. With mult-word tag, we’d be combining the keywords with an underscore (_) symbol such that  the new tag (after using multi-word keywords) would look something like “Make_Money_Twitter” which YouTube and the video sites would treat as a single tag and not break them up into separate words. To achieve best results, you would use a combination of multi-word tags along with your regular tags for every video that you submit to YouTube which means that you would use both the tags “Make Money with Twitter” and “Make_Money_Twitter” in the same video. Also, make sure you’re to use descriptive multi-word tags, such “Online_Money_Making_Tips_with_Twitter” as there are chances of the tags directly matching the search phrases when compared to regular space delimited keyword tags (e.g. “make money Twitter”).

Conclusion

The bottomline is to use a combination of multi-word and space delimited tags to ensure maximum visibility. Remember to use descriptive keyword tags as these greatly improve the chances of matching search phrases. Where possible, use a mix of popular keywords as well as niche ones so that your video is associated with all possible search patterns. When effectively used, tags can improve traffic to your videos giving the much needed impetus to your marketing.

Tips and tricks to improve video marketing traffic using VideoSubmitRobot

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

We receive many queries from users on various aspects of video marketing and video article submission using VideoSubmitRobot. We thought we’d put a kind of a guide that sums up all the important steps to ensure a successful video marketing experience. Here you go:

Ensure your video accounts are setup

Before you can start submitting your videos, it is required that you have user accounts on the video sites. If you do not have a user account for a specific video site, you can sign-up from within VideoSubmitRobot by clicking on “Not a Member? Create Account” link.

Account_Setup

Activate video accounts

Once you have created user accounts on all the video sites, it is recommended that you manually login to all the video sites ONCE to ensure that your videos are posted successfully when using the VideoSubmitRobot program. Facebook flashes a message bar (like the one show below) to verify your account.

facebook_confirmation

When you use a non-Google email account to register with YouTube, you will have to verify your email address before you can start posting videos to YouTube. This process is not required if you used a Gmail account during signup (you wouldn’t have seen this message at all).

YouTube_email_confirmation

Yahoo Video account needs separate activation

Even if you do already have a Yahoo account, you would still have to ensure that you activate your Yahoo Video account. Bear in mind that you have to login to your Yahoo Video account manually so that it gets activated

Remove Account Restrictions

Some video sites have an initial restriction on new user accounts – a standard procedure to guard against illegal usage by robots and to encourage fair content.  Facebook has an initial video restriction of 2 minutes (or 10MB, whichever applies). This restriction is lifted once you complete phone verification on your Facebook account.

Stick with what you know

Where possible, always use existing accounts over new accounts since this gets you more views. Also, streamlining also your videos into a single account (per video site) increases your popularity with search engines resulting in getting indexed and thereby your videos being viewed more often.

Ensure content-rich videos

Vimeo and DailyMotion expect content to be informational and not “promotional” in nature. DailyMotion is very strict on videos that are self-promotional and usually removes them from the server. The key to successful video submissions on DailyMotion is to ensure that the video is as informative as possible. If you find a video rejected by DailyMotion, you can always contact their support and request for an explanation.

Also use high-quality videos as much as possible. Vimeo and DailyMotion emphasize a lot on the video quality as they do on the content. The ArticleVideoRobot Business Account supports HD-quality (resolutions of 640×480 and higher) that ensures your video articles are delivered at the highest possible quality when being distributed to the video sites.

Hands-On approach

It is also important to understand special exceptions – for example, all videos posted to Revver are manually reviewed and approved by Revver staff. Hence videos posted to Revver are not immediately available and the VideoSubmitRobot report might show as “PENDING” or “FAILED”. The VSR report is automatically updated as soon as this video is approved and available.

Get it right the first time

Make sure you always preview your video more than once before posting it a video site. Before you go ahead and submit the video, always make sure you post it one video site and once you verify that the video posted fine, go ahead and post the video to the remaining video sites. This way, you not only save time but also avoid duplicate video submissions. Once you get traffic on one of your video, you enjoy much better chance of your videos being ranked higher by the video sites.

Participate

If you use an account only for submitting videos and never manually login or view other videos through that account, your videos are rated lower and hence you get lesser views. So make sure that you actively subscribe to video channels that relate to the content that you’re marketing, add comments or rate other videos and try to view as many videos as possible. This ensures that you get views back to your account and eventually to the video that you have posted.

Use DynaSubmit to maximize reach

DynaSubmit is a unique feature that allows you to post your video to all the video sites while allowing you to uniquely customize the content (video title and the description) for each site. With DynaSubmit, you post the same video (but with a unique title/description customized for each video site) to all video sites at one click. This feature helps prevents content duplication problem in search engines where your single video can have multiple search terms/keywords associated to it.

dynasubmit

For example, you could have a video article “How to Use Twitter to Make Money”. With DynaSubmit, you can post this video article using different (but related) titles such as “Make Money Online With Twitter”, “Top Twitter Money Making Tips”,  “Online Money Making Secrets with Twitter”, etc. This way, search engines treat each instance of your video posted on different video sites as unique and your video gets associated with a variety of search terms. So the next time someone searches for Twitter and money, you could surely bet your video would be on the top search results. Use DynaSubmit to drive huge traffic to your videos overnight. All that is required is to create keyword-rich video titles and DynaSubmit does the rest – your videos always make it to the top of the search results which even the popular SEO companies would take ages to achieve.

Use Tags Effectively

Tags are keywords that describe your video article. More specifically, the video sites as well as the search engines use tags to identify videos. By using the most relevant keywords to tag your video, you ensure your videos end up being searched more often and this couldn’t be a bad thing at all :)

Go Broad

Try to submit your videos to as many different video sharing sites as possible. You need your video to get popular at only one of these sites to get massive amount of traffic. If you would like to see a pattern of traffic on various videos it is generally too low or too high. Once you cross the too low bracket your video catches on
nicely.

Tip the Jar

Post your video URL at Twitter, your blogs and on your profile pages on social networking sites. This really pushes the ranking of your video considerably in search results. Once a video starts to receive traffic, it gets indexed by bookmarking sites which in turn adds to the number of backlinks to the video. This improves the video ranking in search engines and starts piling up good traffic increasing the relevance of the video in sites like YouTube, Metacafe as these sites tend to feature viral video sites more prominently.

Be Diverse

Use a combination of voice-over characters to add more spice to the video. The built-in TTS engine of ArticleVideoRobot Business Account that comes with 12 voices (the Power Account has 8 voices while the free trial has 4 voice-overs) which gives you a diverse range of voice-over characters. This ensures your target audiences are hooked to your video and not bored by a single voice-over.

How to submit your video article to YouTube using VideoSubmitRobot

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

In the last post, we look at the basics of VideoSubmitRobot and the benefits of turning your articles into videos. We’ll now look at submitting your video articles to video sites using our built-in VideoSubmitRobot.  Let me walk you through each step of the video submission process.

  1. Login to your ArticleVideoRobot account  by going to http://www.articlevideorobot.com/login.html
  2. In the new Members Area, click Start Full Editor button available under the Full Article to Video Editor option. This would open the ArticleVideoRobot wizard
  3. Click Open Exisitng Project button
  4. All your existing projects would be listed. Select the video on the left and click on the Distribute selected movie button
  5. The Select Publishing Options page opens in a new popup window. Click on the Distribute this Video (17+ Video Sites) button.disvibu
    Note:
If you have a popup blocker software installed or if your browser is set to block popups, you may not see the window resulting in no action when you click this button. If this is the case, then please make sure you disable popup blockers.
  6. When you click the Distribute this Video button, yet another popup window opens. This is the actual VideoSubmitRobot wizard. The Video Title would  automatically be picked up. Enter a brief description (sometimes a detailed description is also good) for your video. Note that you can use URLs in your description as well. This is great SEO feature as it adds backlinks and improve ranking on search engines since YouTube actually turns the URL text into live hyperlinks (at this time of writing only YouTube converts the URLs to hyperlinks, all other video sites just treat the link as plain text).vidinfoIn the Tags field, enter atleast two tags at the minimum.  This is important since your video would not successfully submit if you don’t enter atleast two tags. Select the appropriate category. If you do not find a matching category, select Howto & DIY. Click Next button to proceed.
  7. In the Site Selection page, select the video sites that you want to submit the video article to. Please note that should already have a working account on the video sites (ArticleVideoRobot does not create them for you). Also make sure you save the login credentials by clicking on Configure Logins button. Use the Select All Configured option if you wish to quickly select those video sites for which you have already stored your login information. Click Next button.sitesel
    Note:
Where possible, always use existing accounts over new accounts since this gets you more views. Also, streamlining also your videos into a single account (per video site) increases your popularity with search engines resulting in getting indexed and thereby your videos being viewed more often.
  8. In this step, you have the option to select Dynasubmit feature. It is recommended that you use Dynasubmit since it increases the SEO capabalities of your video profoundly. DynaSubmit is a unique feature that allows you to post your video to all the video sites while allowing you to uniquely customize the content (video title and the description) for each site. With DynaSubmit, you post the same video (but with a unique title/description customized for each video site) to all video sites at one click. This feature helps prevents content duplication problem in search engines where your single video can have multiple search terms/keywords associated to it.dynasubmitFor example, you could have a video article “How to Use Twitter to Make Money”.
  9. Click Next when you are done configuring Dynasubmit.
  10. The following screen will show a summary of the credits that you were charged for the video sites. Click Next to proceed.
  11. Thats it. Your video is already on its way to the video sites. Click Close Window to close the browser window.laststp

Note that the flash video would first need to be converted from its native flash format to an AVI video file before it is actually distributed to the video sites. Hence you would notice a delay in seeing your video article on the video sites. This is normal since your video article is queued for AVI conversion when you start the video article submission process. Once the AVI conversion is complete, VideoSubmitRobot automatically submits the video to each of the video site that you selected in the wizard. To see a status of your video submission, login to VideoSubmitRobot by going to the following URL using your ArticleVideoRobot login ID and password.

http://www.videosubmitrobot.com/login.html

You will also find detailed reports of all your video submissions by logging into the above link. Please note that you are never charged for a failed video submission. When your video submission fails for any reason, try to re-submit the video again but please ensure you delete the original video from the video site.

I guess I managed to give a quick overview of the video submission process. I will follow up with more articles on video article marketing along with tips and best practices that you can use.

Namaste!

Where possible, always use existing accounts over new accounts since this gets you more views. Also, streamlining also your videos into a single account (per video site) increases your popularity with search engines resulting in getting indexed and thereby your videos being viewed more often.

How to submit your video article to YouTube using VideoSubmitRobot

Convert your video article into a marketing success with VideoSubmitRobot

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

ArticleVideoRobot is every internet marketer’s must have tool not because it lets you convert your articles to videos in seconds but adds powerful SEO capabalities to your video articles with its integrated VideoSubmitRobot progam. With VideoSubmitRobot, your video articles are submitted automatically to all the popular videos (the likes of YouTube, Metacafe, Yahoo Videos, DailyMotion, etc.) there is on the internet.  VideoSubmitRobot has powerful features that can dramatically increase SEO  capabalities of your video articles making them search engine friendly. The program also has extensive tracking and reporting functions that keeps tab of all details such as the video submission status, date and time of your video submission, and  the video URLs.

Why use an automated video submission program?

You might think that you’re doing good with uploading the videos yourself to YouTube and probably say Metacafe or a couple of more video sites. But should you not be focusing your time more on creating your marketing content rather spend it on uploading your video article? As an internet marketer, focus should be on marketing your products, services or whatever that you think can earn you money. If you think that doing the video submission yourself saves you money, give this a though – assume you have a video article that you want to upload to YouTube and this takes you on an average 2 minutes of your time (remember that you would have to download your video article before you could upload them and this probably would take longer than my estimated 2 minutes, but I’m being modest :) ). Assuming you want to upload this same video to say 10 other video sites, then it would be 20 minutes on an average.  Let’s say you submit 10 articles a day, this would take anywhere above 3 hours of your time. On a monthly basis, that would mean you’re spending close to 90 hours just submitting your video articles.  Compare this with only a few seconds require to submit each video article, you would know by now that VideoSubmitRobot would actually save you a lot of time. But that is not all. As I mentioned earlier, VideoSubmitRobot adds the all important SEO capabilitity to your video which you might not get from your manual video upload. How does this work? Read on.

DynaSubmit – the SEO magic for your video articles

DynaSubmit is a unique feature that allows you to post your video articles  to all video sites while allowing you to uniquely customize the content (video title and the description) for each site. This feature helps prevents content duplication problem in search engines where your single video can have multiple search terms/keywords associated to it.

All that is required is to create keyword-rich video titles and DynaSubmit does the rest – your videos always make it to the top of the search results which even the popular SEO companies would take ages to achieve.

Tag your video articles

Tags are keywords that describe your video article. More specifically, the video sites as well as the search engines use tags to identify videos. By using the most relevant keywords to tag your video, you ensure your videos end up being searched more often and this could be a great boost to your marketing efforts. Search engines are increasingly placing more emphasis on videos posted on YouTube, Metacafe which means you are indirectly increasing the search engine marketing of your product or service.

How to use VideoSubmitRobot?

I get frequent queries to our Support Desk on how to use VideoSubmitRobot, particularly the DynaSubmit feature. We understand we have very little documentation so I’d have to do a lot of catching up in my upcoming posts to walk you through each and every step of the video submission process. I know you’ll be yelling at me for this, but I’ll have to save it for the next post.  But trust me it wouldn’t take long.
